Rosey Cheeks

Now that the sunshine has arrived, I am feeling rosey. I actually never realised how much of a difference blusher makes to your appearance until about a year ago when i was having some make up done at a make up counter. It was late. I decided to treat myself.
I wondered down to the beauty hall and tried out a new shade of blusher as a quick, little pick-me-up. I returned back the office and a friend at work immediately exclaimed "You're all dolled up! Where are you going?" I was actually just going home, but it made me think.
Blusher is a beauty staple I had been totally missing off during my beauty routine. I have learnt from my mistakes however and I'm pleased to say that blusher is back in the star line up.

I am feeling in the pink. First of all, how beautiful is pale pink with gold, but it is so much prettier for spring than the darker cherry blush shades I was using a few months ago. PLUS, a modern take on the all-pink complexion is more ethereal and Pink Lady than Miss Piggy. Candyfloss, boiled sweets, old school sherbets and lollipops are my new inspiration.
Here, YSL's baby pink sheer eyeshadow for the eyes and blush are petal-fresh. MAC's Well Dressed blush is a pop of matte 60s bubblegum sweetness. YUMMY.

Colour Me Pretty

I bought the most beautiful pair of feather earrings from a tiny second hand shop in Soho, which subsequently my boyfriend said were waaay to kitsch, but hey, i was rocking them the very next day. Anyway, the colours of the feather were so sultry and reminded me of Tahitian beauties in Gauguin's paintings. I am also always mesmerised by the kaleidoscopic wheels of eye shadows at bareMinerals counters. The colours they have perfectly matched my earrings. A new sunny gold called Trophy Wife, pale pinky Chic Nude and a darker lining shade, Legit for definition.
I am not one to coordinate my make up with what I am wearing, but I felt this was subtle enough to pull everything together. Especially with the earrings hanging low, framing my face. Jewellery-inspired eyes is all about a sheen that's delicate and understated.
I'm going to work it because I'm worth it.

Nail It

At the moment, I am really in to yummy creamy shades on my nails. I have been inspired by candy and Russian dolls, cute baby colours that have a little more hue, not so pale. And I have been pleasantly surprised by Revlon's offerings. SO on trend. I would almost want to have every colour in their summer collection. Meanwhile, as the weather decides to finally warm up, my nails are like little rays of sunshine.

Beautiful Introductions

For me, it's all about beauty. Lately, I have been experimenting a lot with eye make up, much to the disappointment of my boyfriend who really only likes the natural look. Oh dear, that means only some eye liner and a slick of mascara, which to be fair has been my beauty uniform for a number of years. That lead me to search for the best mascara out there. I thought I came close with Dior's Diorshow Black mascara, which makes lashes fluffy and thick. However, when I discovered Trish McEvoy's Volumising mascara, I was in l.o.v.e. The best thing is that is washes off with water. no more tugging or rubbing the eye area - bingo.

But my focus at the moment is eye colour. Sometimes daring and bold. I have after all found my new best friend; eye primer.
